Deep Dives

Deep Dives are paid, online workshops that provide an opportunity to focus intensely on one particularly complicated aspect of either the PPP or ERTC and are accompanied by hands-on support. We currently are offering Deep-Dives focused on avoiding double-dipping (relevant to both PPP and ERTC) and Form 941-X which is what employers can fill out to claim retroactive ERTC credits.

Read below for more details on what other services are included. If you feel ready to sign up, click on the upcoming date to register via zoom. We will send you a stripe payment link within at least two weeks of the workshop date to confirm your registration.

Form 941X Deep Dive:

During this workshop, we’ll learn how to fill out IRS Form 941X, the form that employers use to claim retroactive Employee Retention Tax Credits.

This workshop is most valuable to those who have already calculated the amount of credit they are due in a specific quarter and who have payroll providers. If you have a PEO, only they are currently permitted to file the Form 941X on your behalf.

Double-Dipping Deep Dive:

Are you trying to figure out how to maximize PPP and ERTC while also ensuring you are in compliance with other grants and contracts? Do you feel that:

  • You aren’t exactly sure what double-dipping is

  • You filed for PPP Forgiveness in 2020 and you’re not sure if/how that impacts your ability to file for 2020

  • You want some company and peer support while you figure out how to make an allocation schedule.

  • Many of your salaries are covered by contracts/government funding, and you’re not sure how to complete the PPP Forgiveness Application

  • You haven’t yet filed for PPP Forgiveness and you want to know how to be most strategic about which expenses to count towards forgiveness

  • You need some sample Excel templates developed by other nonprofit organizations that you can plug your information into

  • You need a script to speak with your auditor and/or bookkeeper about restricted funding

  • You need to understand how to list restricted wages on your PPP Forgiveness Application

What’s included in a Deep Dive:

An intensive introductory 1.5 hour workshop followed by 2 weeks of intensive support where you can ask unlimited questions over email to ensure you’re able to apply what you have learned.

We’ll review the ins and outs of restricted funding and how they relate to ERTC and PPP.  We’ll discuss how the PPP Forgiveness Application interacts with ERTC and how to develop an allocation schedule on Excel so that you’re able to maximize both PPP and ERTC.

If you realize that you need a lot more support, you can sign up for an intensive (either ERTC or PPP or both) and we’ll deduct this cost from it.

What is not included in the Deep Dive:

  • We will not be reviewing the rules for ERTC eligibility and/or how to calculate gross receipts (that is covered in detail in the ERTC Intensive)

  • We will give general guidance on how to determine if funding is restricted or not, but we won’t make the final pronouncement of whether a specific grant is restricted or not - that is up to your auditor

  • The process for claiming Employee Retention Tax Credits (that is covered in the ERTC intensive)

  • We will not be reviewing your PPP Forgiveness Applications (this is offered in the private session in the PPP Intensive)

  • Opportunities to attend work blocks - think Excel party, study group - a fixed time to get the work done that you’ll need.  You’ll be able to make an allocation schedule for your PPP expenses, calculate your FTEs, and more. It’s a 3-hour block of time where you can drop in.  You’ll have the opportunity to do work, ask questions, and compare your situation with your peers.

  • Unlimited use of community support desk - send as many questions as you want to Chitra - through the end of the calendar year

  • The opportunity to connect with organizations dealing with the same lender so that you can connect and strategize together

  • A friendly accountability partner (in Justine)

  • A private 45-minute session with Chitra to review your Forgiveness Application
